Back to school with Superdry

It’s almost September which means back to school. The phrase “Back to school” never meant anything to me before, until now. I’m a first time mom and I’ve gone through all the different emotions with having a child. I’ve cried, yelled, laughed, loved and hugged like never before. When you feel like you’re getting the hang of this “Mom thing” it all changes again. So here we are starting school, and with a whole new set of feelings. Now my baby is growing up with new challenges and new successes and I am so thankful to be a part of it all.

School for me was exciting. Maybe it was because I was always the ‘new girl’. We moved a lot as a family, with my father’s work we had to move. I was never in the same school for more than 2 years. So change was something I became accustomed to and craved. If we were in a house long enough my sister and I would always ask when we were moving again! We loved it! It wasn’t always easy being the ‘new girl’ and it came with a fare bit of bullying, but it made me stronger and built something within me which I could never replace. I now have no fear of new situations, or meeting new people, or starting new things. I say that’s down all down to being the ‘new girl’.

Matty is almost 5 and with many years of school in front of him, I wanted to write him a letter which he can look back on when he is older.

For this back to school blog post I collaborated Superdry. A brand which is new to my wardrobe! I’ve always been a sucker for a pop of color and their line this season has just that. What a cool and comfy way to start off the school year!

Country life vs City girl

Today my parents and I took Matty to a little farm in the countryside not far from where we live. It was so cute for him to see up close chickens, pigs, goats , a tortoise named Victor and all sorts of animals and birds! He loved it, I on the other hand.. well let’s just say I spent most my time taking cover – running from wandering uncaged chickens and huge birds which all seemed to be targeting me. No joke, I did everything to avoid them, and yet they were horrifyingly underfoot with their beady eyes and feathers. I took hold of the stroller and used it as a shield hiding behind it for protection. Matty asked to use the bathroom, a simple request, however as we got close to the WC I saw a MASSIVE peacock in front of the restroom making it impossible to pass, as if it was guarding the door. Drenching from a cold sweat I went on a search for an employee who eventually had to shoo the huge bird away so we could safety use the loo. Matty found it hysterical, I’m not sure if it was the bird or my reaction which amused him more.

Once we made it past the projectile spitting alpacas, the pig enclosure, and the goats, we found ourselves surrounded by pure bliss. No large animals in sight only several connecting quiet lakes covered in Lilly pads and edged with Weeping Willows. We took a long walk around the lakes finishing off at a small playground for Matty. The walk in fresh air made us hungry and we left to search for a country pub. We found a great one and It was love at first sight and the fact that it served the best Nachos I’ve ever had was a big plus!

Back home now and in my Pj’s with a satisfied happy little boy by my side, and this city girl is gradually making room for the country life!

Through Rose Tinted Lenses

The not so glamorous life of an ordinary Wednesday! Today was just a normal day full of small errands and a super market shop. But no matter how uneventful my day is, I ALWAYS get ready for it. I mean why dress boring because you know your day is boring? I think putting thought to my daily preparation matters and sets the day off in a positive direction. I tend to anticipate my ‘good’ day in advance by getting ready for it , and then I’m prepared for whatever life throws at me! I never know who I’ll meet or run into, or if I will suddenly find myself in the uncomfortable situation with my toddler having tantrum in the street! 😉

So here’s some pics on my way to and from the Super Market! I live very local to everything so I walk everywhere, normally I bring a rolling trolley ( they call them chariot here) to the maket but today I just used Matty’s stroller. We walked by a kids clothing store giving out balloons , so Matty was super happy with his balloon and lolly pop while walking to the park today. This old French seaside town is full of pretty streets so walking around on a spring like day is a joy!
