Meet one of my favourite pieces of style- the iconic Jumpsuit!
There’s no item of clothing that has encapsulated the words fun, cool, chic and timeless as the Jumpsuit has!
Over the years it found its way from its original intent in 1919 as a garment to be worn while parachuting out of planes, (hence the name ‘jumpsuit’ ) and soon after they were called ‘coveralls’- as seen on aviators (Let’s think Amelia Earhart). Evolving, with the slightest push of elegance, the jumpsuit morphed into ‘lounging pyjamas’ which were worn on yachts, on the beach and at home entertaining. Oh! , and now the latest occasion the Jumpsuit has commandeered, think about that killer Jumpsuit for a moment Solange Knowles down the aisle for her wedding! Looks like the humble parachute jump wear is continuing to evolve!
These days all of the above occasions apply and they are a wonderful easy ‘no think’ option to wear alone or with a simple top. Slip it on and go- its like no fuss wear,
Its January and its COLD, but that doesn’t stop me from wearing dainty pastel tones to match the charming houses in Notting Hill!
A few weeks ago I was contacted by John Smedley for their S/S18’ collection. While scrolling though the new collection I was so inspired by this jumper. The oversized fit, bell sleeves, bow details, and lilac color sold me!
What do you think about this color for Spring/ Summer?
This season we’ve sharpened our style teeth on Check , Houndstooth and Prince of Wale plaids. How wonderful it’s been to see so many items of clothing with the quintessential Heritage look!
With that being said, allow me introduce you to my absolutely favourite coat, and yes it’s a Check!
To say this coat is my favourite is truly an understatement. So I will say it this way:
This. Is. My. Favourite. Coat. Now do you believe me? I drape it over everything, and it’s so entirely wearable it works with everything. This coat never fights for attention and is at home over a velvet dress, bulky layers, sporty looks, jeans — you name it. There’s nothing like it- and what’s more it’s on sale now- half price!! I’m wearing it with a cosy batwing top which has a lovely textured knitted stitch. As it would happen this too is on sale! Grab them quickly I say, you won’t be sorry 🙂
Winters arrival signals the start of turtle necks! I wear them over a thin layer, under absolutely everything and in all colours. At the moment it’s so cold, and as I write I actually see snowflakes falling outside my window! I honestly only want to wear my duvet!, but that’s not going to happen so next best I’ll go for the softest, finest, warmest , cosiest Merino wool roll neck jumper from John Smedley. I’m really loving this baby blue colour at the moment and it goes so well with black – actually what doesn’t go well with black?
Maybe a skirt wasn’t the best idea for today’s weather, but I do love a longer midi denim skirt especially for the winter months. This ripped one from Zara came with a cute matching denim belt.
With sock boots and messy hair and voila, there it is, my OOTD!
There’s nothing nicer than taking a stroll around my neighbourhood on the weekend, especially since it’s Notting Hill, AND Christmas is in the air! Simple local walks are anything but ordinary, you know. There’s something so special in celebrating the familiar!
In keeping with that spirit, I’m wearing the softest, palest pink hoodie from Nicce London. Who wouldn’t love this one? It will become a constant. I will wear it as much as I can on the weekends! Worn with the obligatory Converse, skinny jeans and my go to blazer (I tend to grab without blinking),and Voila, I’m ready for Ledbury Rd, Westbourne Grove, and places beyond!!
